Financing Your Degree

As a Nursing@Simmons student, you have various options to fund your degree.

Financial aid and other educational funding options include:

Financial Aid

For U.S. citizens and permanent residents, the options for financial assistance include federal loans, private loans, and grants. Awards vary from year to year depending on the number of applicants, their financial need, and available resources. We encourage you to apply for financial aid at the same time you apply for Nursing@Simmons.

To be eligible for loans, applicants must be accepted into the program, enrolled at least half time, and current on payments for any previous Federal Stafford or Perkins loans.

Applicants must submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), a Simmons Student Information Form (SIF), and any additional supporting documents that may be required. The FAFSA code for Simmons College is 002208. Filing your FAFSA online expedites the processing time. Submit your FAFSA via the Department of Education’s website at www.fafsa.ed.gov.

Download the Simmons Information Form (SIF). Please submit your completed form via email or via fax to 1-617-521-3195.

Visit the Student Financial Services website for additional details regarding general financial aid information, specific information for online students, and loan options, or call 1-617-521-2001.

Payment Plan

Simmons also offers a payment plan that students can take advantage of to cover the cost of tuition or supplement any remaining cost not covered by federal or private loans. The Higher One Tuition Payment Plan is an interest-free alternative that allows students to spread any balance over three months (bridge students), or four months (non-bridge students). Students must sign up for the payment plan well in advance of the bill due date to avoid late penalties. There is a $35 application fee each term that students choose to set up the payment plan. Visit the Tuition Management Systems website for more information on setting up a payment plan.

Other Resources

Additional scholarships and grants, sponsored by health-related foundations and professional organizations, may be available. The School of Nursing and Health Sciences does not have a relationship with any of these groups and does not recommend any particular program. Conditions and availability of the resources listed may change, so it is important to contact each specific agency for current information.

  • American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Foundation
  • U.S. Department of Health and Human Services
  • Nurses' Educational Funds
  • Indian Health Service
  • American Association of Colleges of Nursing
  • National Health Service Corps Scholarship Program
  • Daughters of American Revolution
  • American Association of University Women

View a list of additional funding resources that you may be eligible to receive. Application deadlines are often in the spring for the following year, so search early if you are interested in receiving funding.

In addition, you may be eligible for tuition assistance from your employer. Talk with your human resources personnel or the benefits administrator at your place of employment to learn about any tuition benefits that may be available.
